AMOSSHE is 20: research and tools for student services

AMOSSHE is 20AMOSSHE marked its twentieth anniversary in 2012/13 by funding five projects that take the pulse of the current student services sector and build tools to help face the challenges of the future.

The full findings of these projects, which include research reports, toolkits and more, are now available here: AMOSSHE is 20.

AMOSSHE invited its members to put forward ideas for small research projects in any area of student services. The projects chosen cover a broad range:

  • Commuters: The role of student services and support in attaining commuter students (Kingston University).
  • Mental health: Mental health assessments across services – good practice and pitfalls (University of Portsmouth).
  • Funding: Exploring students’ motivations for engaging with student funding services (University of Dundee).
  • Social media: Digital and social media in student services (University of Sheffield).
  • Disabled students: What can be learnt from the use of Inclusive Learning Plans to help improve academic support for disabled students within the higher education sector? (University of Kent).

These projects are part of AMOSSHE’s commitment to a membership priority-led research agenda, supporting members’ professional development and broadening the evidence base for student services in the UK.

Following the success of these projects, AMOSSHE commissioned five more in 2013/14 as part of AMOSSHE Insight. The findings from these projects will become available next year. Find out more here: AMOSSHE Insight.
